One important reason for using electric equipment, if its reasonable, would
be that gas-powered lawn mowers are the leading cause of pollution in most
metropolitan areas, the average gas-powered mower, even if well tuned and
in good condition, puts our something like 20 times more pollutants than the
average automobile.
In our metro area, we have a few air advisories in the hottest days of the
summer. During these alerts, using gas-powered motors is forbidden and
punishable by high fines.
I have a gas-powered mower and a HUGE lawn area. If I had a smaller lawn, I
would probably get an electric mower and live with the inconvenience.
Anyway, it's an option.
