Blackberries

G'day, Everyone --
A while blackberries were discussed briefly.
I have been going through my catalogs looking for Blackberry options.
I know the thorns are wicked but are they more flavorful than the thornless
varieties?
Don M. mentioned that Chester was too tart & W. Martin recommended Illinois.
Haven't seen that one listed anywhere but some of the others thornless
blackberries listed in the catalogs are Black Satin, Darrow, Dirksen, Arapaho,
Navaho, Ebony King. A couple were descriptions say they are self-supporting.
Can any of you share with us your experiences & what you would recommend,
please.
