How do you weed and foliar spray at the same time? I can just see me
clambering around soaking wet, with weeds glued to me and bugs swarming all
around, trying to lug the spray tank and weeders. But my yard may be more
"challenging" (read: a mess) than yours.

If it is --that would be a sight to see. But once I get the water pump and all
it's lines put in the ground next year ... it should not be that bad. I have
two compost piles two dirt piles a huge pile of pots, 30 bales of peatmoss, 40
bags of pearlite and a rototiller that should be thrown out. This is on the
neat side of the place!

But now I just have more questions, of course.

What is a hand spreader for fertilizer? I have a hard time reaching parts
of my garden efficiently and quickly, so I'd love something that would spray
out the fertilizer well beyond my reach. Will this do it? Right now I toss
out the fertilizer which sometimes spreads out in a beautiful even soft
sprinkle, but more often lands in heavy clumps.

And it sounds as if I should get a spray tank -- is that a major expense?
Does a hose attach to it, or do I mix water and fertilizer and then lug it
around (in which case, wouldn't it be dreadfully heavy unless your garden is
5' x 10' or the like)? How do I regulate how much fertilizer to add if I
 attach a hose?

You can get the hand spreader for 5-12 dollars at any hardware store or
target. It will cast the fertilizer out about 15-20 feet in front of you.
the tank sprayer comes in different sizes - I use a three gallon tank, that
is enough to do about 500-600 plants at a time. I spray one direction and pull
weeds with the other hand- I stay nice and dry. and you do not have to worry
about putting down to much. You are only spraying the leaves...so you do not
have to get the ground wet.
They cost about 20-30 dollars.
