Yes, Pottsey, it is - one of my all time favorite shrubs for shade. But,
in your zone it is quite likely that it won't bloom regularly since it sets
buds on old wood which can be killed by extreme cold in
winter...howsomever, it is well worth growing for the foliage alone. If
you can give it a bit of a warmer, more sheltered microclimate to sort of
boost it towards z.6, it will be more likely to bloom every year.
