My next door neighbor bought some A. blanda bulbs and stuck them in the dry,
sandy soil right next to the south side of her house. They have come back and
multiplied a bit for the last 4 years. This is also the place I donate my
leftover iris divisions, chrysanthemums, etc. And they thrive there with much
neglect while many of my pampered fertilized darlings struggle!!!! It is no
doubt the excellent drainage, which counts for a lot with perennials (warmth
from the foundation, too).
