>Since we are suppose to talk about perinnials here's a new topic. I read
in one of my catalogs a garden >tip. Pinching to get more branching:
Pinching is the removal of tips of growing shoots to make your >plant
branch.
In her book *The Well-Tended Perennial Garden*, Tracy DiSabato-Aust goes
into great detail about this. I suggest you visit the library and read up
on the benefits. The Buddleia and Monarda I usually pinch, flower
beautifully, and have extended bloom time.
In zone five I usually stop pinching in mid-August - although this past
fall (very mild until November), I wish I had pinched longer to extend the
bloom - oh well . . .who knew???
