I, too, would like to have heard more about what happened to their sticks when
planted. So far, only one person has comment on the results (that I can
remember). Several years ago, a friend gave me such a packet.
They turned out to be Chrysanthemums and were very beautiful!!
I was very new to raising flowers (all annuals so far) and had no idea that
mums came in so many colors. Not as many came back the next year but mums
don't generally do well here because we have so much freezing & thawing all
winter. I also didn't do anything to protect them -- watering in the fall &
mulching. One variety I planted on the hill next to the house which lasted
and thrived and multiplied very well for many years -- until I fixed the
drippy faucet at the top of the hill.
Coincidence? I'm not sure.
Now I buy small mums in the spring but they haven't done nearly as well as
those little sticks I planted that year. I have better soil now & give them
more care.
