  I didn't think anyone living  in a rating that high could even pronounce
winter!

  Well, I did make a conscious decision...about last July...to prepare for
the winter scene. And I'm glad that I did. The red and yellow dogwoods and
blue spruces do help. All of my seed pods on the sumac have been consumed.
( by the birds, folks .......the winter hasn't been THAT hard...)

  Is it true?
  Are the crocus and galanthus up in Oregon?
