But, again, that "rule" is only for when people wish to achieve a
specific look in their mums, asters, sedums, etc.  That's based on just
one of many schools of gardening practice.  If you're happy with your
plant's appearance, leave it be.  If last year you thought to yourself,
"You know, self, I'd like those better if they weren't so tall and lanky,
maybe shorter and bushier" then whack away.  If the "rule police" show up
at your house, just smile and nod as if you don't know what language
they're speaking.  ;-)
