Thanks for coming in here... I got my species crossed.. don't know where the
half of my mind was that usually functions (somewhat). I have been giving Susan
descriptions on the Delphinium nudicaule. So you have your answer at last... well,
some of it.
You are right in many respects.. D. nudicaule and D. cardinalis are from the
same general area in native range. Similar care is required when planting. Both
can flower from seed in the first year. Roots, however, are woody, thickened and
long on cardanilas. Requires the same dry after flowering. Listed as not as
attractive and more tender, but given a zone 6, while they give nudicaule a zone 8
or 7.... they need to read their own writing on that one.
