Marge,
I hope your husband is feeling better, and that your Rudbeckia survives the
slugs. Mine is now over 6 ft, and has buds just beginning to open. I did
plant it at the back of the border (although it was an act of faith since
it was suite puny when I received it).

I also like the coarse Rudbeckias and our native one that is in full bloom
now and whose scientific epithet I can't remember. It has the typical R.
hirta flower, but smaller and more delicate, also present in much greater
numbers.
