Flowers out of season

I was amazed to see today that my Clematis cirrhosa 'Balearica', Clematis
cirrhosa 'Freckles' and Helleborus orientalis are in flower.
Has anyone else had winter flowering plants in flower at this time of year?
I know that we have had a summerless summer so far, but I have never noticed
this phenomenon before.
