Well, the one I was thinking of sounds/looks like a slightly different
variety -- Persicaria 'Red Dragon' PPAF. (For what does PPAF stand?) "Dark
and dramatic, this persicaria is a unique specimen plant. Dark leaf centers
give way to a light green chevron and darker green border. White flowers
appear in terminal panicles late in the season. This persicaria is more
mounding and less invasive than the typical Foam Flower. Asexual
propagation without permission prohibited by law."
This one has white flowers vs. red, and while the foliage has a
maroon/purple cast (with what looks like a maroon center vein), the chevron
is not maroon. It was featured in the 2000 Shady Oaks catalogue
(800-504-8006) -- it's a beautiful foliage plant! Enjoy yours!
