Title: Re: There IS a God!
Nan,
What a
shame that National Gardening magazine went under. I didn't care for their
web site, but I read the magazine from cover to cover for a lot of years
when I was learning to garden. In fact I was a vegetable seed test
grower for them for several years. I guess that finishes off the all the
garden lab projects that they used to put into the schools
too.

Subject: Re: There IS a God!In the Business Section of this morning's Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, was the following article:Michigan Bulb Co. , Shuts Down OperationsMichigan Bulb Co., one of the nation's best-known gardening mail order firms, closed Friday, putting 225 employees out of work. The shutdown ended months of speculation as, one by one, board members and key executives quit the company, which is owned by Foster & Gallagher Inc.Sadly, Michigan Blub is not the only casualty of their poor business practices (seehttp://www.gr.mlive.com/business/index.ssf?/business/stories/20010626gbulb26104803.frm), NationalGardening.com, which was purchased by F&G a year or two ago has shut down as well, taking with it all of the content from the on-line National Gardening Magazine which converted from print to on-line last year. The demise of the print magazine was quite a blow in my estimation, but to loose the content altogether is a crying shame.A long time friend and colleague was editor in chief at National Gardening Magazine and then National Gardening.com. He is one of the best in the business and had great plans for the future of NationalGardening.com. Too bad that F&G couldn't manager their business better, we have lost some of the best content and one of the best content providers because of them.Nan--
