* Michigan Bulb Co., one of the nation's best-known gardening mail-
order firms, has closed, putting 225 employees out of work. The
company is owned by Foster & Gallagher Inc. In a letter to Michigan
Bulb employees, Foster & Gallagher vice chairman Robert Pellegrino
said the company "simply ran out of money and the banks to whom we
were indebted said they could no longer support our continuing
operations.
