My 15 or so clumps of Autumn Joy in various beds get more shade than
sun, and fairly rich soil, and do very well. When they get floppy, I
usually do some dividing, which keeps them upright for 3-4 years or so.
I'll have to try the cutting-back method that Nancy recommends. I have
another variety, with light pink flowers, that has never flopped nor
been divided in 9 years. It's not as spectacular as Autumn Joy, but
it's a nice trouble free clump.
