If you mean you are going to see bloom in two weeks, do not cut those plants
or all you will see is a few side shoots with puny flowers much later on.
Those gardeners in the cooler zones cannot cut back tall plants to keep them
thriftier and shorter in late spring or summer. It must be done early in
order to give the plant an opportunity to make new growth.
The 4th of July was traditionally the last pinching date for mums here in
what is zone 5 on the map but zone 4 in my altitude. Our frost free season
is so short I would not cut back (except foliage plants as artemesia) plants
beyond the first part of June.
This is a question of knowing your growing zone and appproximate frost free
growing season.
