Same experience that you have had. However, I have two plants from different
sources. One is a beautiful and reliable clump, the other a ne'er-do-well.
This plant is different from the other tall sedums in that it needs dryish,
well drained soil. You can give some water now and then but it grows best in
dry gritty soil and in full all day sun. The plant does not need fertilizer.
As all variegated versions of an all green plant it is not as vigorous,
requiring time and patience to produce a large clump.
You might try using three plants in a triangle to achieve a good sized plant
sooner. Also avoid buying any with green sprouts or all white sprouts. This
sedum is very hardy and my better clump has survived and lived well through a
few disasters.
