Susan,
Have been getting ready for the Saturday HPSO garden tour all week. I've
been counting on my Phlox to put on their usual great show. On Tuesday they
were blooming and clean. On Thursday they were covered with mildew from top
to bottom! My choices were to cut them to the ground or leave them. Since
the flowers are still pretty, I decided to leave them.
I have 2 old varieties of Phlox growing in the shade under Doug Fir trees
that were here when I came 23 years ago. They have never had mildew,
including this year. Wish I knew what cultivar they are. Someone really
should use them for breeding stock.

Very nice, Chris. Is Natasha hard to find? How does she do with mildew? I
have mildew on every phlox in my garden except 'David' and 'Franze
Schubert.' The ones with mildew are Mt Fuji, Eve Cullum, Bright Eyes and a
dark purple (can't think of the name). It is especially bad this year.
