RE: Aconitum/Phlox(wasMatrona..)

Susan,
There are 2 varieties. One is about 5 1/2 feet tall, soft lavender pink
with a white eye. The other is about 3 feet tall, bright lavender blue.
Both smell heavenly.
In the nursery I have 'Nicki', a recent cultivar to the market. A nice
dark purple, about 4 feet tall and no mildew so far. This is the first year
I've had it and it is very popular. I hope to plant some in my own garden
and give it a fair trial.
They would be beautiful planted with a nice clean white - perhaps David?
Has everyone had good luck (no mildew) with David? My 'Mt. Fuji' Phlox died
out over a period of years even though it is advertised as mildew
"resistant" (not mildew proof). I have 'Pax', also white, in the nursery
and it has performed well in pots for me.
As long as we are talking Phlox - I LOVE 'Starfire', a really good cherry
red and 'Dodo Hanbury Forbes' a huge fragrant pink. What an awful name! I
wonder if "Dodo" is a name or a comment on intelligence?
