Re: Mosquito repellant

I did an experiment this evening after reading the post
about catNIP as an insect repellent. Since I needed a
shower anyway, I grabbed a handful of catNIP leaves, crushed
them, and rubbed them on every exposed part of my body (arms
and legs, mostly - not face). I then went out into the yard
and harvested ripe currants, drained and refilled my son's
pool, and sat in the yard chatting with the neighbors until
after dark.

The verdict? I have mosquito bites on my face, and head,
but none anywhere else . . . . . While it was still light
outside, the flies were biting, and did not seem to be
deterred by the catNIP.

I would use it again - if in need of a shower anyway, since
it does tend to streak one's skin green. I will also say
that as I am writing this, my cat is VERY interested in
rubbing my legs and jumping into my lap to get at my arms .
. . . LOL.

I grow catMINT too, but I'll leave that experiment to
another day.
