Re: Sickly Blue Cohosh- need help

Gene, you may have REALLY solved my problem...both my sickies are in acidic soil. Guess they'll have to move as soon as I can get a bed prepared. Oh the joys of a new house where the previous owners thought 4 roses, two hostas, a few ferns and some impatiens made "lush" garden beds!
Thanks again
Lillian

Hello Susan,
Do you know the pH of your soil? Blue cohosh needs neutral to a bit
sweet. If too acidic it will not perform well... just kind of struggles
along. Do you have more than one plant? Perhaps it is simply lonely......

> Lilian, I have this plant and can't say it has performed exceedingly well
for me either. Mine is on the NE corner of the house, little direct sun.
After it first grows out it always looks rather haggard thereafter. Worse
yet, no berries yet, in 5 years. I've heard this is normal, so I'll hang in
there a few more years.
