Tony Avent is an excellent speaker - as Gene says; if you're unsure
whether you're a plant nut, he'll convert you...he can also be funny
as all get out. He had some 200+ plant addicts rolling in the aisles
at a NARGS Winter Study Weekend a couple of years ago. Man knows his
plants, too. From the conversations I've had with him, in person and
via email, I like the man. If you don't get the Plant Delights
catalog, you are missing a real trip...and you can have it for stamps
or chocolate.
Dan Hinkley also is worth taking a trip to hear. Have not met him,
but have enjoyed his 'talks'...what a plantsman! He has a good sense
of humor, too, tho' much more subdued than Tony's.
If you like ferns and you ever get the opportunity to hear Judith
Jones (Fancy Fronds Nursery) talk about them...go..it's worth it.
She's quite a character, as well as being one of the foremost fern
growers in the US.
