Re: Liatris root rot?

Hi Sharon,

Root rots are present in all soils. The best remedy is to plant a new
liatris somewhere else, at least 5 feet away from the infected site.
Since the rots are present everywhere, but only invade a plant that has
been injured or severely weakened, it is not critical to take extreme
measures.

You can also treat the infected soil with a water:bleach mix 10:1. I have
watered the soil thoroughly and it seems to kill the rot.

If you wanted to salvage the liatris, you could clean off all the rot and
if there is a piece of crown that is still firm, soak it in the bleach
solution for a couple of hours, and plant it in treated soil.
