Let us know how they work for you! If you cut the poplar recently, I bet they will sprout! Saw a rustic willow garden bench at a local nursery (they had bought it and had it shipped in - it even looked aged) - they'd set it in an area that had some irrigation - well, the back of the bench sprouted leaves!!!

_________________________________________________________________poplar withes, (each end stuck in ground; neverending supply of those since poplars line my driveway.) These seem less obtrusive than the bamboo stakes but I don't know how they'll last throughout the summer; they'll probably sprout!
