Yes, Walter, we mortared the joints in the block...not a beautiful
job, but it works:-) Or did you mean did we put a coat of cement
over the block sides? If that's it, no, did not; just mortared the
joints like a block wall.
Well, I've kept evergreen azaleas in there with covering in winter
and they come out fresh as a daisy. Odd, but true. I have no clue
why as I would have thought they needed light, too, but seems they
are OK with what they get - which is nothing if you use black plastic
under or over the old rugs. Now, have not tried conifers, so don't
know if they'd behave differently.
