They tend to use the same 'paths' each day to get to their food sources-so a
"Live-trap" works if placed on one of their 'trails'. Bait the trap with
stinging nettle or bean plants.

After capture, kill the animal and bury. Never release (any) a live trapped
animal in a new location.

In late spring and early summer, woodchucks are on the move to locate new
dens and fresh food (they have eaten every thing they can in the old area) .
They move as family units with one adult and a few larger 'pups'. In the new
location they have another set of 'pups'.

I can tolerate deer, but am violently intolerant of wood chucks. They are
just eating machines, and there is never a cougar or a wolf around when you need
one to take care of the "excess" woodchucks. Ones to many around my plants
but a few eating on the side of the highway is...I guess...- OK.
