I've been impressed with the new colors of Heucheras - I look forward to
more breeders' work on color variations in other species.
How about more disease (mildew) resistance in garden phlox? I also am
attracted to variegated plants. Wasn't there a catalog from somewhere
with 'everything varigated'?
And I want warning labels on spreaders! I thought the "Lady bells"
(Adenophora) that came into a perennial bed a couple years ago were cute
- until this year. They seeded around like mad. At least they are easy
to pull out.
As I grow older - I really appreciate long-lived perennials - I may add
more shrubs, and do away with those that need frequent dividing or
special winter care.
