Hi, Kitty:
I have not seen Crocosmia growing in my area and realize it's a chancy
undertaking. From what I've read they don't seem to be finicky about soil or
irrigation. We too seem to be more in a z.5b or even a 6 climate the last few
years. It's been a decade or more since we've seen -25 degrees here. And,
in recent years we've had good snow cover. My fingers are crossed. I wonder why
the display gardens can grow it but you have trouble?
Yes, the Campanula is also known as Blue Waterfall. I looked up your hybrid
and it's a beauty I'd love to try as well. I'm glad to know it does well for
you. Years ago I tried some C. white and also the blue clips but it just never
did well here and I suspect the 'full sun' advice was incorrect as my other
Campanulas appreciate shade from the late afternoon sun. Also, dead-heading
those small flowers was an arduous task on my tummy. I don't know which gave up
first...the plants for my belly...especially since I have a penchant
for crawling onto ant hills.
I also have found MOBOT to be very helpful....thanks for the
link!

Joanie,
We have had a huge clump of Crocosmia Lucifer at our MG display gardens
for more than a decade. We are supposed to be Zone 5a, but of late, more
like Zone 5b. I've personally tried both Lucifer and Emberglow a few
times but no real luck having them return the next year.
As to Campanula Camgood, I knew it by its trade name Blue Waterfall if
it's the one I'm remembering. It didn't do that well for me, maybe it
was just where I planted it. Being a Serbian Bellflower, I'd have
thought it would do well here. Another one I do have good luck with is
Campanula 'Birch Hybrid' whose parents are C.
poscharskyana and C. garganica. It's an RHS award winner and I have a
bank of it in a very tough spot but it continues to do well. The flowers
don't last as long as I'd like, but the bright, intense shade of blue is
beautiful.
I usually find MOBOT's cultivation info to be pretty much
right on the money for me:

theft & Crocosmia & Campanula poscharskyana
Hi, Chris...I've been wondering if anything was going on about this.
Interesting info about chasing down hijacked images. Maybe the fella who
used your photo didn't heist it from you but perhaps did so elsewhere and
from there attached his copyright. Have you been able to contact him?
I've taken a chance on zones and put in some Crocosmia 'Walcroy'...has
anyone tried Monbretia in or near zone 5a? If so, any tips on growing
it?
Also, some Campanula poscharskyana 'Camgood' which I'm lead to believe
will become a 4 foot wide 8" tall mat in 3 or so years, blooming from
May through August...does anyone have experience (and guidance) with this
campanula?
Thanks in advance for any help with these plants.

As a
follow-up, I just sent the DMCA takedown notice, so we'll see what
happens!
What's more interesting to me is that Google allows you to
search for image theft as well. I searched at
http://images.google.com/
for
http://www.hort.net/profile/ros/rosru/main.jpg
and it came up with
two pages of stolen images. Tineye (the commercial service) came
up with one single stolen image.
*NOTE: You have to click on
the camera icon before pasting the URL for the photo.
The other
sites are all in foreign countries, so copyright enforcement becomes a
lot more difficult.
What's even more interesting to me is
that some of those other sites are using the stolen copy that
davesgarden.com had.
Anyhow, I thought you'd appreciate an
update...
Chris
