Peter Yeo's book Hardy Geraniums is probably the best work to use as a
botanical primer for the genus. It offers an extremely good overall
analysis of the genus, a very useful identification key and first class
descriptions of most of the more available species and primary hybrids.
However, it is short on modern hybrids and photos are limited.
The Gardeners Guide to Growing Hardy Geraniums by Trevor Bath and Joy Jones
offers a more gardener friendly approach. It is about the same size as
Yeo's book, but is more recent (1994) and thus covers many modern hybrids
and has more photos.
On the other hand, the Geranium Checklist, published by the Geraniaceae
Group of the BPGS, gives a description of virtually every species that has
been discovered.
Any further help, please let me know. However, I am away for the next week.
