Re: Chicory (cichorium intybus)


I don't know anything that works well for keeping chicory flowers a long
time, as the flowers in the garden only last a short time. Fortunately new
ones on the stem will open over several days if you can keep the stems
'turgid' (ie not limp). They also only open in good sunlight, even in the
garden they only open for part of the day - therefore not ideal for formal
flower arrangements. I tend to put them in a big mixed vase of herbs, get
them into water as soon after picking as possible.
