I cut Alma to half her size,  twice before bloomtime.  It makes nice full
branches and allows a better fit. 
If you transplant now it may be a problem,  if it is hot there as it is
here.  I recommend cutting 3 feet off and putting some chicken wire around
it to hold it's shape.  And some b1 or manure tea to help with shock.
