Yes, this is a wonderful book -- great ideas for turning problem areas
into showstopping gardens. I got the book after reading an excerpt from
it on her 'hellstrip' plantings. My parkways are not hot & dry, but
shady and dry -- an even greater challenge in some ways! Endless soil
amendments, mulching, and consistent watering has finally produced some
spectacular hosta plants. This year I added a dozen plants of the
woodland aster (divaricata?) and they seem to be doing marvelously --
typically for this year, looks like they'll bloom soon instead of Fall,
as is normal.
