RE: The urge to re-organize

Sheila -
Tut, Tut, shame on you!! Actually I also have been hard at work
reorganizing things in my garden, and have had good luck. I usually work in
the wee hours of the A.M. (avoidance techniques for the snickers from the
seasoned gardeners in the area who also seem to have more discretionary
time <g>), and then I pamper the dickens out of the transplants for a
couple of weeks. You may want to temper any advice you take from me, as I
fall into the fairly new category (this is my third year!) but most of what
I am moving are hearty souls (Echinacea purpea, various hostas, sedums,
monardas, ferns, etc...) and all have moved pretty darn well - even some
which were starting to bloom! I have three small children, and can never
really plan on having blocks of time to work when it is the most opportune
- so I throw all caution to the wind and go nuts! My theory is work when
you can! I'd rather risk it, and get it done, then put it off and never
get it done! I am really pleased with the results; the only draw back thus
far was having to trim some of the larger ferns way back! I won't get to
enjoy them as much this year, but they are in a great location - and will
really get a good start next year!
