Actually, I am exaggerating a bit.
For the most part, the banana slug lives out in our forests, which are
temperate and "damp." They're as much a part of the flora and fauna
there as the deer, bears, and other critters. You just watch out for
them, 'cause stepping on one while hiking is not a pleasant experience!
(And leaves a big skid mark!)
