Re: Portchulacas self seeding???

My Portchulacas are planted in a bed that gets full afternoon sun. It is
planted with Tulips and Blue Grape Hyacinths. The ones that came up this
year are planted next to a cement sidewalk. In fact they were so close to
the sidewalk itself that I had to move them in order to give them some
space. They come up late and haven't started to bloom yet. I noticed that
one of the is just starting to get some heads. That is okay with me, they
bloom later into the season. I don't do anything to them to have them
self-seed. I deadhead them
while they are blooming and toss the heads back into the bed. The bed
itself was pretty low, so last fall I filled it in with compost and top
soil, and the little buggers managed to come up through a couple more layers
of soil (some of my Blue Grape Hyacinths didn't even do that). I also have
a small clay flower pot that somehow got a Portchulacas seed in it and every
year a plant comes up in it. I thought that it had stopped this year, but I
just looked the other day and there are several very tiny plants (among the
dead ladybugs). I wanted to take some of them out and put them in the
garden, but I am afraid to disturb them if that is where they want to live.
