Nice choice. Mr. Lincoln has always been my favorite.

If I recall, your in Wash. State?
I would wait for a cool evening, plant them in the ground
with some Vit. B-1 and then water well ( try to drown them)
for a week or so. You say you already took out all dead wood,
so I think they would be fine without pruning.
My sister is a huge rose fan and she uses that, Alaskan
fish fertilizer, on hers and they are all just breath-taking to see.
I have always used "Miracle Grow" but after seeing hers, I'm
changing that.
