I bet they really thrive in Costa Rica! Did you notice in variety in the
plants such as flower color or were they mainly the same species?
I have about ten species of Brugmansia right now. I bought all of them as
plants or cuttings from various mail order suppliers. Two good sources are
Logee's Greenhouse and Southern Perennials and Herbs. Both of these
excellent suppliers have web sites so a quick search for those names will
quickly lead to great sources.
I have been known to give cuttings out to people who appreciate them and
also have the ability to keep the plants alive. I live really close to
Memphis and would be happy to root a cutting for you if you should so
desire. My only request is that you also pass a cutting along if possible.
You'll find that the 'brugies' do quite well during the Memphis summers (as
long as you keep them watered and feed!) although they will need protection
in the winter. Any cutting or small plant that you obtain this late in the
year may not flower this summer.....
