No, they are not the same plant at all although they share more similarities
than differences.
E. alpinum should top out at 60cm. E. planum at 75cm.
E. alpinum leaves - ovate to triangular cordate. E. planum oblong to ovate
oblong also leaves are sessile.
E. alpinum is more a steely blue shade.
E. planum can realistically be considered a garden weed once established in
the garden. We routinely root them out of the back of our border after only
growing it for a few years to see how it would do. It did fine thank you
very much.
