Is July an acceptable time to root cuttings of:
Amsonia hubrechtii (ciliata)
Chrysanthemum weyrichii (sp?) White Bomb
Chysanthemum Clara Curtis
Chrysanthemum pacificum Pink Ice
Coreopsis verticillata Moonbeam (and Zagreb)
I picked up nice stock plants of each over the weekend, and the stems look
like they should root well.
I also picked up a lysimachia (gooseneck loosestrife). That one looks
vigorous enough that I will simply divide it periodically. But will
cuttings also work?
Anyone have any experiences to share with the group?
Finally, I rooted dozens of root cuttings of verbascum Southern Bouquet in
the spring by simply washing the root mass of an overwintered plant and
placing the broken roots (4 to 10" long) on a bed of moist potting mix
covered with vermiculite. It worked, but each cutting gave only one plant:
green at the top end of the cutting, roots at the other, regardless of
length of root cutting. I think this one is best done by cutting into 1 or
2" pieces, inserting them vertically into the mix, and standing back!
