There seems to be lots of species of  Evening Primrose--I wonder if your
is O. biennis which is taller --or O. lamarkiana? I think these are both
biennial and evening booming. I grew  O. biennis one year from seed,
started it early enough I guess so that it bloomed  and it was neat to
see the flowers open like a slow motion film, but not at all hardy here,
nor did the seeds spread around.  It really had sort of weedy looking
foliage as I remember.
