Remember when choosing a plant that is near a door that is opened and
shut often that some plants draw stinging insects that you may not want
near your door.
I always had numerous honeybees where I lived in Illinois. I never
realized that wasps frequent a flower also. I always imagined them as
"meat" eaters. I saw a wasp just yesterday carrying a huge stunned
spider up the side of the house. It was too big to allow the wasp to
fly.
I don't see too many honey bees here in Northern Alabama. Does anyone
who lives there know if that is the norm. I saw one very small honeybee
look-a-like since the beginning of spring. There are plenty of bumble
bees and a bug that looks similar to a bumble bee but had a sort of fan
tail. It hovers like a hummingbird, but is a bug.
My garden is so full of butterflies that they just move in waves as I
walk along the garden. I suppose that is because I am in the country. I
do not have any specific plants to attract them. They sit on the zinnias
and marigolds, mostly.
