Crepe Myrtles & Powdery Mildew

Attention !!!!!

for those of you who live in the South. On our local noon news we have
a gentleman that is connected with our Mississippi State Univ. He has a
progran probable once a week. the point I'm making is that last week
he talked about crepe myrtles and the problems that most are having with
them at this time. "Powdery Mildew".. I checked mine today and sure
enough mine has it. I have been pruning and sniping. It's heart
breaking to snip the large blooms off, but had to do something. I
understand the powdery mildew won't kill the tree, but it sure looks
ugly.
my neighbor says she is not gonna cut her blooms off. I can't spray,
my trees are way to big. most of my problem looks like it just
started, because most of the damage was located at the base of the
tree, where sprouts are coming up. I'm gonna spray where I can and
hope that it helps.
so if you live in a location where you grow the crepe myrtle check on
them if you have not done so already.
the gentleman said that it was caused where there are warm days and
cool night

Happy Gardening
