What's invisible and eats basil?
Sorry, I don't have the answer. I was hoping someone else did.
Here's the story...
I have 3 basil plants in a large pot on my deck. The leaves appear to have
been eaten but I can't can't find the culprit. I've looked at the leaves
and the soil. I've also gone out at night looking for a nocturnal pest.
Nothing!
In the past, I've seen grasshoppers eat basil. (They eat everything!) But
I haven't seen a grasshopper yet this year. It's too early for them
anyway. They usually show up in August. I don't think it's birds either.
I thought of slugs but I can't see any traces. Besides, the pot is under a
overhang and is generally quite dry.
I've been growing basil this way for 15 years or so and have never had this
problem.
Any ideas?
