<<Yesterday afternoon I found (and killed) a Japanese beetle

Yes, and I'm the one who last week said I can't touch
the asiatic garden beetles yet.
Apparently, they read this list and KNOW I can't bring
myself to touch them -- because they now are on the kitchen
walls and sink. Last night I put down a glass of wine, when
I returned, there was an asiatic beetle, swimming away. I
left him there to drown. HA!
Which leads me to a story that is totally off topic. My
sister spent some time running a research station off the
Rio Negro, which is off the Amazon, totally out of reach of
civilization. (They ran the generator 1 hour a day for
electricity, washed the clothes in the river, and had to
travel 10+ hours by canoe and helicopter to reach a satelite
phone, etc) Anyway, she became very comfortable with all
manner of bugs. She calls any critters swimming in a glass
her "drinking companions" and then downs it.
