Fellow Gardeners-
If you are feeling the heat, lack of rain, too much rain or the over
abundance of weeds boy do I have the solution for you.....time to plan a day
of plant shopping.
Yesterday - Pam (murfsmomma) and I spent the entire day plant hunting and boy
did we come up with some great finds. :o) We met at 6:30 in the morning and
had breakfast - during breakfast we planned our strategy. We were one of the
first to arrive at the "Christmas in July" sale at one of our favorite spots
then went to a collectors home and bought from his backyard. He directed us
to a specialty nursery that we had never heard of.......If you like unusual
and hard to find----we found them.
Pam found a half dozen of the species Passion Flowers that she craves so much
and I found the bold and unusual foliage plants that make my heart sing and
two clerodendrums that I've never heard of. If you are one to drool when
looking through Stokes Tropicals.......it was like being there in
person--without having to spend a fortune. We both bought our fair
share----image a suburban with the 3rd seat removed....plants to the ceiling
and on the floor board, the back seat captains chairs sat two boxes loaded
with plants.
Today - the motivation that I possessed in the spring was back-----I cleaned
and pulled and pruned my beds to make room for the new. So if you are
feeling those Summer Time Gardening Blues.......plan a trip to your favorite
garden center or maybe one that you've always wanted to visit and
go.........it really does help!
Happy gardening to you all.
