Actually this is very interesting. They don't kill them. The ants do
haul the aphids back to their ant hills but for the purpose of using
them. You see when the aphids suck on tender new stems a sybstance
called honeydew is released. As the name implies it is a very sweet
substance that the ants absolutely love. So they 'farm' the aphids to
provide them with their fix. They escort them out and back in.
