I planted some L. 'Serotina Florida' in the front yard on trellises and so
far they unaffected with botrytis and it's been 3 years. They get AM sun,
flower attractively and follow with stupendous clusters of irridescent medium
red berries that the birds adore. The flowers are pink and red with some
yellow - nice - and for me only flower
until around mid-July (might be the AM sun only) and then begin producing
berries. It's fine but I really miss the Alabama Crimson and Dropmore
Scarlet. Those also were magnets for the aphids you spoke about, lasting only
a couple of weeks in late spring...I wonder if aphids can carry and spread
disease like botrytis? So far, the Sertina Florida has had no aphids at any
time.
