Agastache: fem. (gender) Greek agan, very much; stachys, an ear of wheat; in
reference to the many flower spikes of these perennial herbs.

Another way to state it: Latinate form.
There is no other way to be sure of the plant you seek or purchase but by
using Latinate form. Try remembering the first four letters of any Latinate
term and that will lead through the indexes of most references. Ignore the
proper pronunciation, do the best you can and get yourself the correct plant.
Or, be able to research the correct plant as there is much on the web
accessed only by the correct name.
The gardeners on this list are so avid they will all learn the rules sooner
or later. What in the world is "snooty" about correct information?
