Re: Are there purple daylilies?

Nan --

I'm a bit of a purple fanatic, and I have yet to see one that is either a
true purple -- such as the equivalent color in a Crayola box -- or
anything in the violet range, the blue end of the purple spectrum. They
do, though, have several pretty good reddish-purples, burgundies, mauves,
etc. I have 'Swirling Waters' which is listed as "purple" but it's
really a reddish-purple -- close, but no Crayola. ;-) The flower on
'Swirling Waters' also has way too much yellow throat, so much so that I
P.O. my hardcore daylily friends by referring to it as a "bicolor." I
also have 'Swirling Purple' which is a little closer but, again, no
Crayola. Some of the 'Siloam' series that I see in catalogues and on the
Web are also getting closer and closer. If anyone knows of a genuine
purple I'd be excited to hear about it!
